NFL Playoffs: Ray Rice and More RBs to Be Feared This Postseason

When three of the top five running backs this season are set to make postseason appearances, opposing defenses have plenty to fear.

Ray Rice has burst onto the scene as of late for the Baltimore Ravens, as Rice and several other starting running backs in the league that have picked up their production heading into the 2012 NFL playoffs.

Rice just topped 1,000 yards in his last outing, currently 1,029 yards and over 1,600 yards from scrimmage.

Talk about some numbers.

These are Ray Rice and the three RBs opposing defenses must fear heading into the playoffs.

Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens

Ray Rice has been just short of sensational this season, as he has rushed for a 1,029 yards for an average of 4.4 yards per carry. The 1,029 rushing yards rank No. 5 in the league.

In three of the last four games, Rice has been able to top 100 yards.

It seems as if as the season goes on, Rice only continues to improve his game on the ground and has been key in helping the Ravens win games. As a result, the team has won its last four games.

What makes Rice all the more dynamic, is his ability to pile up the yards from scrimmage. Rice has recorded 1,619 yards from scrimmage this season. His ability to set up short first-down situations with his screen games will give opposing defenses nightmares throughout the postseason.

Arian Foster, Houston Texans

Despite his struggles as of late, Foster is easily one of the more feared RBs in the NFL.

Foster's 957 rushing yards and eight touchdowns both rank No.8 in the league. Despite the figures dropping from last season, Foster has struggled with injury and has missed two games on the year.

Not to mention Foster also has 543 yards receiving, just 61 short of his total last season.

With T.J. Yates now the starting quarterback for the team, expect Foster to get plenty more carries and make the most of them in the NFL playoffs.

Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons

If the Atlanta Falcons are to get into the playoffs via Wild Card slot, make no mistake about it, Turner will be one of the more feared backs in the postseason.

Turner has rushed for a third-best 1,129 yards, while also managing to pick up nine rushing touchdowns. He has been able to breakout for big runs consistently this season, as he has recorded nine runs of at least 20 yards this season.

Despite a slight drop in his numbers in the second half of the season, expect Turner to still be a top-three RB threat this postseason.
