Now that the most boring and non-appealing Monday Night Football game of the season has come and gone with the Seattle Seahawks destroying the St. Louis Rams 30-13, we can start talking about the NFL's Week 15 Power Rankings.
As each week in December comes to an end, each game becomes more critical and each day comes closer to the conclusion of the regular season and the start of the playoffs.
With that being said, which teams are on the rise in the playoff picture?
Houston Texans
It's kind of hard to believe the projected No. 1 seed in the AFC is on the rise in the playoff picture, but this Houston Texans team has certainly made its case to be considered not only an elite football team, but the best team in the AFC.
Houston has now been without quarterback Matt Schaub for three games but has managed to post an impressive 3-0 record—more specifically, a 2-0 record with rookie quarterback T.J. Yates at the helm.
The Texans are coming off a gusty performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, a potential playoff team. Yates, the first ever North Carolina Tar Heel to start a game at quarterback, led Houston to a 20-19 victory over the Bengals as he passed for 300 yards and two touchdowns, with his last one being with two seconds left in the game to give Houston the lead for good.
Houston has certainly proved it's in it for the long haul, and with Yates at quarterback, the Texans are in it to win it.
Denver Broncos
Of course the Denver Broncos are on this list—yet another week and the Broncos continue to rise up in my weekly power rankings.
Somehow, someway Tim Tebow and his Broncos found a way to overcome a 10-point deficit with 14:55 left in the fourth quarter to knock off the Chicago Bears in overtime, 13-10.
Denver's defense continued to shine as it held the Bears to only 245 yards while forcing one turnover—which happened to be a crucial fumble by Marion Barber in overtime as the Bears were approaching field-goal range.
Despite the defense shining, it went unnoticed as Tebow made the headlines yet again with an incredible fourth-quarter performance after playing so awful in the previous three quarters. No. 15 finished Sunday's game having completed 21 of his 40 passes for 236 yards, one touchdown and an interception while running for 49 yards.
All Tebow and the Broncos do is win as they're now 8-5 with a one-game lead ahead of the Oakland Raiders in the AFC West.
New York Giants
The New York Giants have yet to lose a game in the new Cowboys Stadium as they rallied to edge Dallas, 37-34.
With less than six minutes to go in the game, the Giants trailed 34-22 but their defense stood strong as it was able to give Eli Manning and the offense the ball back to score 15 unanswered points to give them a 37-34 lead.
As the Giants improved to 7-6, the Cowboys drop to 7-6 as well as giving up the lead in the NFC East.
Now with three games left with one of them being against the Cowboys, the Giants control their own destiny and are in perfect position to win the NFC East.
