A batter's walk-up music is something to add a little personality to the game. Each batter's song is unique and represents something about the individual player.
Evan Longoria used to walk-up to "Down & Out" by Tantric, Derek Jeter has walked up to "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys and Chipper Jones walks out to "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne.
Those are some of the more practical options for walk-up songs.
Then, you have the guys who like to have some fun when they step up to the plate. In recent years, Curtis Granderson has walked up to "Friday" by Rebecca Black, Nick Johnson has walked up to "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus and most recently Justin Turner has walked up to "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen.
Now we can add Washingon Nationals phenom Bryce Harper to the list of ridiculous walk-up songs, as he walked up to "Boyfriend" by Justin Bieber in Tuesday night's ballgame.
Harper, who is 19 months older than Bieber, is probably looking to just change things up. I don't blame him, especially after that brutal 0-for-7 with five strikeouts that he suffered during one game of a three-game set against the New York Yankees.
I don't know, though.
Harper seems like a metal, rock, alternative kind of guy. Maybe even a little country. Teen pop just doesn't seem right for the 6' 3", 215 pound outfielder.
Hey, whatever works I guess.
