Following last season, New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson cut the team's payroll by $52 million, going from $143 million to $91 million in total player salaries.
According to ESPN New York's Adam Rubin, the team is expected to field a payroll of $95 million in 2013, which should keep them in the top half of MLB clubs.
But the Mets have several players due salary increases that will challenge Alderson's ability to meet that $95 million figure. That means he'll have to make some tough decisions over which players to keep and who to let go.
