Green Bay Packers: 5 Reasons The Pack, Not Cowboys, Are The New "America's Team"

First, I must give credit where credit is due. This article is the result of B/R member Gregory Isaacs' suggestion.

Now, back to business.

For decades the Dallas Cowboys have been known as "America's Team," ever since the term was used as part of the 1978 Cowboys highlight package.

That's when Bob Ryan, now the VP and editor-in-chief at NFL Films, coined the phrase.

The 'Boys got the nickname because of their national appeal and popularity. It seemed that there were Cowboys jerseys in the stands of every NFL stadium.

Add to that the fact that the Cowboys' games were the most widely televised and it's just natural that they be given the title.

But, have things changed since 1978? Sure, the Cowboys are still known by most as "America's Team," (even if it in the most trivial sense of the word) but are they still the most deserving of the moniker?

Before you completely write off the idea that another team could ever dethrone the boys from Dallas, at least allow me to make the argument in favor of the Green Bay Packers.
