Former British No. 1 Tim Henmancan relate to Andy Murray coming up short in majors.
Henman was a four-time Wimbledon semifinalist and says he hopes British fans will continue to support Murray, who lost his third career Grand Slam final in straight sets to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open.
"There will be a lot of scrutiny back home," Henman told the BBC. "There are some great champions who went on to win after losing Grand Slam finals, like Andre Agassi and Ivan Lendl, but at this moment it's hanging over his head and it will be a long flight home. Andy has had a fantastic tournament but, having coming up short again, I hope the people around him can continue to support him."
The fifth-seeded Scot has failed to win a set in in his three major final losses. Henman, who never advanced to a Grand Slam final, says Murray has what it takes to master a major.
"He's still played some great tennis and he's got to keep giving himself the opportunities as I believe he can win a Grand Slam," Henman said of Murray. "There is a stigma that goes with losing three finals but it doesn't alter my belief that he can win a Grand Slam, and hopefully it won't alter his."
