Auburn Football: 4-Star DE Tashawn Bower Adds to Loaded Tiger DL Class

With 5-star defensive linemen Dee Liner and Carl Lawson already committed to the Class of 2013, Auburn's defensive line already has a bright future.

It just got a little bit brighter.

Tashawn Bower, a 6'5", 241-pound defensive end from Somerville, N.J. committed to the Tigers on Tuesday, according to 247Sports.com.

Bower is rated as a 4-star prospect and the No. 112-ranked prospect in the country, according to 247Sports.com. His commitment gives Auburn 12 commitments in the Class of 2013.

Cam Newton got all of the publicity during Auburn's BCS National Championship run of 2010, but one of the foundations of that team was a veteran defensive line that went eight-deep. Developing that sort of depth worked once, and it certainly appears to be the goal for head coach Gene Chizik in 2013.

Bower will join Lawson—the nation's No. 1 weak-side defensive end—in the Class in 2013. Liner, a 6'2", 277-pounder, will likely anchor the center of the line in new defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder's defense for the foreseeable future.

Getting pressure while only rushing four can transform a good defense into a great defense in a hurry, and judging from the looks of Auburn's defensive line class in 2013, the Tiger defense will turn around sooner rather than later.
