If the New Jersey Devils are somehow going to come back from a 3-0 deficit against the Los Angeles Kings, they are going to need a lot of help.
And a lot of players to step it up.
The Devils have scored just two goals in three games which means, more than anything, their centers and wings are going to have start making something happen.
It's not easy against Jonathan Quick, but if the Devils don't want to be (further) embarrassed in the Stanley Cup finals, certain players must step up.
Here's a look at who those players need to be.
Ilya Kovalchuk
In three games against the Kings this series, Kovalchuk has put up a whopping five shots, with zero of those actual going on a goal.
For a guy who has netted seven goals and a shot percentage of 11.1 on 63 shots during these playoffs, those are some bad Stanley Cup finals numbers.
Kovalchuk has to find a way to get involved. Even if he doesn't increase his shot total in Game 4, Kovalchuk, who has handed out 11 assists during the playoffs, needs to find his teammates for some better opportunities at the net.
Ryan Carter
Carter has been New Jersey's sparkplug in these playoffs. He's only averaged just over eight minutes per game on the ice, but he's still managed to find the net five times and compile a shot percentage of 25 percent, highest on the team.
The Minnesota native did find a way to score in Game 2 on his only shot, but that shouldn't relieve the pressure from his shoulders.
He's been an important third-line player, and he needs to continue to apply the pressure to the Kings' defensemen.
Adam Henrique
Henrique has developed a reputation of being the one to save the day during these playoffs, and he needs to find a way to do that yet again for the Devils.
It's a lot to ask from the 22-year-old, but Henrique has received lots of time on the ice and has yet to do much with it against the Kings.
In Game 2, he failed to even attempt a shot in 21 minutes on the ice and, overall, he has just four shots and zero points in the series.
Henrique has had a terrific playoffs, especially in the assist category. He'll have to step it up in Game 4 if the Devils want to live to play in New Jersey again this season.
