Players to Watch

Tiger Woods

While his recent struggles have been well documented, Tiger Woods’ past success is just as well known. With three Open Championships and a place firmly towards the top of the leaderboard, Woods is a serious player to watch.

Woods’s recent resurgence in 2012 has many fans questioning whether the old Tiger is back, but the real test comes this weekend.

The brutal Royal Lytham & St. Annes course has been kind to the players so far, but when it eventually gets tough, that’s when the years of experience for Woods could help him steal a win.

If the weather stays calm, Woods may not have enough to stop the top players.

Bubba Watson

There is no better pure shooter on the tour right now than Bubba Watson, and that will set up huge as the field heads into this weekend at The Open.

While his weekend performance in 2011 at the British Open cost him a possible win, Watson has everything going his way heading into the weekend.

The fans know Bubba can drive the ball for miles and use his irons to match a normal man’s longest shot, but with his putts falling, Watson is a must-watch for a win this Saturday and Sunday.

Brandt Snedeker

The relative unknown leading the field through the first two rounds, Brandt Snedeker, is enjoying the hype around him while not allowing it to overwhelm him.

Let’s see if he can carry that momentum and confidence through the weekend.

Snedeker has never played into Saturday and Sunday at the British Open, but he will not only be playing this weekend, he will have a healthy lead on the majority of the field. Talk about a trial by fire!

If the young star can keep his head on straight and avoid his own hype, there is little doubt that the steady conditions will benefit the inexperienced player. If the weather starts getting nasty, Snedeker is in trouble.
