Kris Jenkins: 4-Star Power Foward Commits to Villanova

Kris Jenkins, a 6'6", 250 pound power forward committed to Villanova University Sunday on a Washington, DC radio show, "“In and Out of Sports."

Jenkins trimmed his list earlier this month to Rutgers, Villanova, Clemson, Xavier and Miami.

Last year as a junior, Jenkins averaged almost 20 points and 18 rebounds a game at Gonzaga College High School in the nation's capital. He was named the 2011-12 Gatorade District of Columbia Boys Basketball player of the year.

He is known for being a great scorer and has a great basketball IQ.

The Wildcats new addition is ranked as the 63rd best player by Rivals.com and the 18th best power forward by Scout.com in the 2013 class. Jenkins had 11 offers from Division I schools from all over the east coast.

ESPN.com says of Jenkins:

"He could morph into a Charles Barkley-type; undersized four man who likes to rebound. He's got good feet and hands and isn't [afraid] of contact. He'll knock down the occasional perimeter shot but his bread and butter is in the paint."

Head Coach Jay Wright picked up Croatian guard Mislav Brzoja earlier this week, who is able to play immediately. After a disappointing season last year with a 13-19 record, the Wildcats coaching staff have done a great job putting together a strong roster for the 2012-2013 season.

Nova has two freshman, in addition of Brzoja, with center Daniel Ochefu and point guard Ryan Arcidiacono. Wright also has Wake Forest transfer Tony Chennault who will add more depth to the guard position.

Kris Jenkins is Villanova's first commit of the 2013 class. Nova is also on the list of several other top-100 prospects.
