Illinois' momentum has changed directions as its surprise run into the Top 25 has turned into a sprint out of the rankings. The team isn't the only one that will find itself as a new member of the army of unranked teams.
No. 20 Auburn
Auburn faces the unenviable task of traveling this weekend to take on the LSU Tigers. Compounding the potential for disaster for Auburn is the fact that its offense has been struggling.
The Tigers have failed to score more than 17 points in any of their last three contests, and now they will be facing one of the best defenses in the country.
It is hard to find a scenario where this struggling offense puts up more than 10 points in this game. Auburn will suffer its third loss of the season and fall out of the Top 25 in the process.
No. 23 Illinois
I predict that Illinois will lose to Purdue 21-14 after a 14-point fourth-quarter comeback effort falls short.
Okay, I admit, this game has already been played. And this loss is definitely going to knock Illinois out of the the Top 25.
It is Illinois' second straight loss and both have come to unranked opponents. The team can kiss the Top 25 goodbye.
No. 25 Washington
Washington picked the wrong week to jump into the Top 25. This week it takes on No. 8 Stanford on the road.
The Huskies are listed as 20-point underdogs in most sports books because Stanford QB Andrew Luck should be able to feast on a weak Husky secondary.
Washington has a dynamic offense of its own and it very well may keep it within that spread, but at No. 25, the Huskies have no margin for error, and it is tough to find a scenario here where they pull off the upset.
