Kansas State has been one of the top surprises in all of college football—but the Wildcats can't escape their conference without battling some of the best teams the nation has to offer.
The brutal Big 12 schedule will only allow one team to escape unscathed, and that won't be the team from Manhattan.
Here are three teams, including the Wildcats, which are set to slide down the rankings.
Kansas State (No. 11)
The 6-0 Wildcats have had their fair share of close calls already this season: Five of their six wins have come by a touchdown or less, but they continue to persevere.

They're a good football team that likes to run the ball, but they are overmatched in the gauntlet they're about to run.
This week they'll take on Kansas in Lawrence, but they then play a four-game stretch against Oklahoma, at Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and at Texas.
Four ranked teams—two of which are on the road—would be too much for almost anyone.
South Carolina (No. 14)
The Gamecocks actually have a fairly favorable schedule to close out the season, but they'll have to do it with an inexperienced quarterback and no star running back.

The loss of Marcus Lattimore for the season is absolutely devastating to South Carolina's chances of repeating as SEC East champions.
Lattimore has carried the ball 123 more times than the next leading rusher, who just so happens to be quarterback Connor Shaw.
This team is in big-time trouble. The only other running back with at least 10 carries (two quarterbacks and one wide receiver have over 10 carries as well) is freshman Brandon Wilds.
Illinois (No. 23)

Already on the fringe, the Illini are set for a three-game stretch against three ranked opponents, starting on October 29.
They'll first visit Happy Valley before welcoming Michigan and Wisconsin into Champaign. That is not an easy stretch, and the Illini did not look good against the Buckeyes this weekend.
Their hot 6-0 start unfortunately looks like the peak of their season.
