Apparently, someone in Lubbock, Texas isn't too happy with Texas A&M's decision to abandon the Big 12 for the SEC. How do they show their displeasure? By covering the buses with graffiti and excrement.
Yes, you read that right—excrement. Poop. Baby Ruth (you'd have to know Caddy Shack to understand that one). The ol' number two.
According to USA Today, A&M athletic director Bill Byrne posted a note on his Twitter page that says:
Someone vandalized our buses in Lubbock. Excrement inside and outside of buses plus spray painted vulgarities on outside. Classy.
The Washington Post indicates that manure went "from one end to the other" inside one bus and was smeared along the outside of all four team buses.
Along with the manure, vulgarities were "spray painted" on the outside of the buses (note, one source indicates that it was washable paint).
The first thing that I want to make very clear here is that nothing I've read to this point indicates that any of this behavior was carried out by Texas Tech students, alum or anyone directly involved with that institution.
Therefore, I don't want any of my comments to be misconstrued as being directed at Texas Tech University or any of its students.
Right now, it appears that authorities have no idea who perpetrated this ugly incident and until such time as that is determined, the blame should not be pointed in any one specific direction.

Having said all of that, whoever did this should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. This isn't funny. It's not cool, it's not hilarious and it's not ingenious.
It's a pathetic display of irresponsible individuals who lack creativity and mental maturity. What, you think spreading poop hasn't crossed people's minds before?
Sure it has. The burning bag of poo is as old as Halloween.
However, most people grow up and realize how stupid it is.
Such practices are typically carried out by mindless thugs in middle school or high school who have too much time on their hands and an incapability of thinking up something more original.
It's disgusting and serves no purpose.
Someone has to clean that mess up, and—especially in this case—it's unlikely to be the people these vandals intended to harm. Some poor bus driver had to clean up crap because someone wanted to make a derogatory statement about Texas A&M—presumably only because they're leaving the conference and the rivalry will die after this game.
That makes this act even worse in my mind.
Whoever did this had one shot to send a parting gift to the Aggies. They could have been classy about it. They could have shown maturity and dignity.

Instead, they chose to sink to the lowest common denominator—poop jokes.
They saved the least classy display for a time when the Aggies would never have an opportunity to respond—not that they would sink to that level.
It's like staring down a bully only to kick him in the crotch from behind as he turns his back on you. What did these people really gain? Are they proud of themselves?
For my part, I really hope these vandals aren't students at Texas Tech. I really believe that "institutions of higher learning" such as Tech couldn't possibly be home to someone so mindless.
I also hope that A&M rises above this. Retaliation in kind doesn't work. Two wrongs don't make a right. I hope no Aggie decides to stoop to such a level just to get back at people they haven't seen, don't know and can't prove are guilty.
There is something funny that came out of this though. I mean, after all...someone had to collect that poop and smear it in the first place, right? Just look for the people with smelly fingers.
