NFL Picks Week 7: New York Jets and Every Team That Will Cover the Spread

If you are the betting type—and who isn't these days—here's a look at what teams are good bets to cover the spread for the Week 7 picks.

I'm no expert, I just like to pretend sometimes, so tread lightly.

New York Jets (+1.5) vs. San Diego Chargers

I realize the Jets have hardly looked like the New York Jets of the past few years, but giving them a point-and-a-half at home seems like going a little too far.

The Chargers are 4-1, sure, but they've beat Minnesota (1-5) at home by seven, Kansas City (2-3) at home by three, Miami (0-5) at home by 10, and Denver on the road by five.

Not exactly the most intimidating opponents.

The Chargers have been living life on the edge against inferior opponents, and this seems like the week that it bites them in the behind.

The Jets offense has been pretty atrocious, but their D will slow this game down and keep them in it. Look for New York to come out on top at home.

Denver Broncos (even) at Miami Dolphins

This one is a pick'em and I like Tim Tebow to lead the Broncos to glory on the road against Miami.

It's technically a road game for Tebow, but the former Gator will probably get more cheers than jeers on Sunday, and that can only help him in his first start of the season.

Both of these defenses tend to struggle and, as long as Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas is less than 100 percent, the Broncos the advantage on the offensive side of the ball.

This one likely won't be the prettiest of football games, so it can be a little unpredictable, but look for the fired up Tebow to lead the Denver Broncos to victory.

Carolina Panthers (-3) vs. Washington Redskins

I am in the majority that thinks even John Beck is an upgrade over Rex Grossman at quarterback, so kudos to the Redskins for making the change.

With that being said, the Carolina Panthers have been in every game this season and I think they will take this one at home for their second win.

The Redskins defense causes problems with their blitz packages, but Cam Newton is skilled enough to avoid most of the pressure, just like Michael Vick did last week. On the other side of the ball, the Panthers defense has looked bad because teams have thrown so much against them.

John Beck isn't nearly talented enough to effectively throw 40 times a game, so Washington will have to rely on its running backs.

Look for Newton and company to score at a faster rate, however.
