London 2012: Chris Paul and USA Basketball's Potential Unsung Olympic Heroes

The convergence of basketball's superstars on Team USA is always a sight to behold when it takes the floor at the Olympics, but some players could get lost in the fold.

While each face on the team is instantly recognizable, the accomplishments and contributions of some may get swept in hype and talk of other, more popular players.

These are the guys that could bring things to the table that aren't always as valued as they should be.

Chris Paul

Along with the experience he brings from having previously played at the international level, Paul is a true leader and competitor.

His ability to lead a group will work wonders during those rare times Team USA might be faced with adversity throughout the Olympics.

His skill set, strength and athleticism will be mismatches for most, if not all, international guards.

Tyson Chandler

Last season's NBA Defensive Player of the Year has become even more valuable with injuries to players like Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh.

Though he won't be asked to replace any offensive production lost by the absence of those players, his defensive ability will be a huge asset.

His athleticism and defensive skills in the low post will come in handy against other countries with high-level talent, like Brazil, Argentina and Spain.

Kevin Love

Love's versatility will come in handy often against opponents.

As one of the league's best rebounders, Love will be able to clean up the boards.

His ability as a stretch 4 will come in handy, as well. Love ability to play around the perimeter and hit open jumpers will serve well and force other teams' forwards to play out of their comfort zones.

Andre Iguodala

Iguodala's athleticism will go a long way in helping stop prolific scorers.

While LeBron James and others are also defensive standouts, Iguodala can turn his role as a defender into a "go-to" specialty for Team USA.

His ability to help with scoring is just an added luxury.
