Masters 2012 Leaderboard: Who Will Continue Hot Play the Rest of This Season?

The 2012 Masters is coming to an end, and there are some golfers at the top of the leaderboard who are going to continue dominating their competition the rest of the season.

Every year, we see unknown names climb to the top at major championships, but then they disappear and are never to be heard from again.

These three men are primed for more success this year, and the PGA season is just getting started.

Phil Mickelson

Lefty has been playing well the last couple of months after a few rocky events to start out the season. Since February, he's won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, placed second at the Northern Trust Open and finished the Shell Houston Open tied for fourth place.

Mickelson is playing at the top of his game right now, and there is no doubt he'll continue to dominate the rest of the way.

Bold Prediction: Mickelson will win at least three more tournaments this year on his way to the PGA Player of the Year Award.

Bubba Watson

Watson has been threatening to become a major player on the tour for a few years now, but so far, he's failed to become a consistent presence atop leaderboards.

In his nine-year career, Watson has only won five events—and only three of them came on the PGA Tour.

He has been coming on strong as of late, though, finishing his last three tournaments with two second-place scores to go along with a fourth-place score.

The thing is, Watson is supremely talented. In fact, his game is similar to that of Mickelson's. He is aggressive and loves to go right at pins, no matter where they are on the green.

Like Mickelson, Watson will prove to be a late-bloomer. His best years are ahead of him, and 2012 will be the year he busts out.

Bold Prediction: Watson will win two tournaments this year, one of which will be a major championship.

Adam Scott

Scott is always someone to watch. He's come close to winning a few majors, finishing in the top 10 six times in his career.

Scott has won 18 events as a professional on various world tours, including eight victories on the PGA Tour. Before his impressive showing at this year's Masters, Scott finished in third place at the Travistock Cup.

So far this season, Scott is 11th in total scoring. He is a long hitter who takes advantage of par-fives. But where he's really shined in 2012 is on the par-fours, where he leads the tour in birdies or better.

Scott is poised to continue his strong play through the rest of the season.

Bold Prediction: Scott will win two tournaments in 2012.
