Tiger Woods just finished the par 5 6th hole during second round play at the Farmers Insurance Open at La Jolla's Torrey Pines, and he's showing vintage Tiger form.
He escaped a drive that went astray into the right rough, and an approach shot that landed in a bunker to birdie the hole, his first birdie on a par 5 in this tournament. With that play, he's now birdied the last four holes in a row, and is already four under par for the day, and now seven under for the tournament.
We always knew that Torrey Pines was one of his favorite courses to play on throughout his career, as he's won here seven times in 12 starts over the years. But this is just ridiculous. It's like he's found the fountain of youth.
He currently sits with a large group of players in a tie for fourth place, three strokes behind unheralded Chris Kirk, who is currently 10 under par. Woods just needs to have one win to get things back on track and get the fans back on his side. This might be setting up to be it.
