At only 30 years old, Yao Ming is one of the richest men in all of China.
Unfortunately, it didn't last nearly as long as it should have, and after only a nine-year run in the NBA, Yao was forced to retire due to injury.
Although Yao's situation is unfortunate, this incredible video has been made in honor of his career.
He was born to two basketball-playing parents—depicted by a baby emerging from a basketball— and he became an instant sensation in China.
The 7'6" superstar went on to star for the Shanghai Sharks and helped them to a CBA championship.
In 2002, Yao was drafted No. 1 overall by the Houston Rockets—depicted by Yao blasting off on a rocket from China to Houston—and became an instant celebrity across the globe as he began his career in America.
Yao didn't speak much English at first, but that didn't stop him tearing up the NBA immediately.
As a rookie Yao averaged 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks. It was the start of a brilliant career that included eight NBA All-Star nods, 19 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game.
He helped the Rockets to four playoff appearances during his run and was one of the best centers the league has seen.
Now he's back in China and owns his former team in Shanghai—depicted by Yao riding a shark— among other things.
The Yao Ming business empire is now his future, but at only 30 years old, he doesn't have too much to worry about.
Yao's run in the NBA was great when he was healthy, but unfortunately, that didn't last too long, and he played only three full seasons during his career.
We, however, do have this video for the rest of time, and any opportunity to watch a computerized Charles Barkley kissing a donkey's butt is a worth a watch.
