Fantasy Football Rankings 2011: Ray Rice Will Run Circles Around Chris Johnson

There are two certainties in fantasy football this season: Ray Rice is going to be incredible and Chris Johnson is going to be a massive disappointment.

We?ll start with Rice.

The Baltimore Ravens premier back is entering his fourth season in the league and is poised to be a fantasy monster.

His 2010 stats of 307 carries for 1,220 and five TDs are going to get shattered.

With TD vulture Willis McGahee off to Denver, Rice will be getting the bulk of the redzone carries. Ricky Williams is now the backup and he won?t be getting more than a handful of carries a game.

Yet the real reason you need to be excited about Rice is his new fullback Vontae Leach. He comes over from a Houston Texans team that had the highest rusher in the league in Arian Foster last season. A huge reason for that was the blocking of Leach. He will be creating huge holes for the speedy Rice to navigate through.

How do 1,400 yards and 10 TDs sound to you?

On the flip side, Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson is heading in the complete opposite direction.

As the holdout of Johnson drags on, it?s becoming clear that the two sides are still extremely far apart. His status for Week 1 is very shaky at this point.

He will also be dealing with a new QB in Matt Hasselbeck in an offense that needs to be carried by Johnson. A one-dimensional unit is going to allow defenses to stack the box and smother Johnson.

Factor in that he?ll need at least two games to shake off the rust and the value of Johnson certainly doesn?t warrant a top pick. In fact, he doesn?t even justify a first round selection.

If faced with the opportunity of selecting Rice or Johnson?take Rice or your team is cooked.
