UFC Fight Night 25 Results and Reactions: Erik Koch vs. Jonathan Brookins

We are live at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The second match on the main card is a featherweight bout between Erik Koch and Jonathan Brookins.

Brookins is known for his stint on the Ultimate Fighter where he was the season winner. Since winning, he has dropped in weight to featherweight and has won four of his last five fights.

Koch is a young prospect who is transforming into a contender with every fight he has. He wants a shot at the belt and—at the rate he is going—he will one day get his chance.

This bout did not please the crowd and even in between rounds you could hear a Saints chant throughout the arena. Brookins came in with the perfect game plan—take a striker out of his element.

As the bout comes to an end, the entire crowd boos. Brookins pressured the entire time and when possible Koch would land combinations on the feet. Styles make fights and while a fighter may can be explosive and entertaining in one fight, you cannot always assume the same thing will happen in their next fight.

Koch gets the decision, which is quite shocking. In the normal scoring system Brookins would have won, but in all technicality the judges got this one correct.

Wasn't the greatest fight, but at the end of the day it is about getting the win and you have to do what you do best.
