NCAA Tournament Scores 2012: Scores from the Early Games

The West Region: (6) Murray State 58, (11) Colorado State 41

Colorado State came out strong to start the game, going into halftime with a one-point lead. The Racers turned it on in the second half, outscoring the Rams 35-17. The Racers improve their record to 31-1. One of the big stories of college basketball this season, it will be interesting to track their progress in the tournament. Racers star guard Isaiah Canaan had a rough game, but finished with 15 points. Forward Pierce Hornung led the Rams with 12 points and 17 rebounds.

 

The East Region: (8) Kansas State 70, (9) Southern Miss 64

One of the most anticipated games of the first round didn't disappoint, as the Wildcats barely edged the Golden Eagles. Rodney McGruder had one of the best games of his career, pouring in 30 points to lead the Wildcats. The Golden Eagles were lead by Neil Watson's 16 points off the bench.

Kansas State will have a shot against Syracuse in the next round, with the Orange missing big man Fab Melo, who declared ineligibility right before the tournament started.

 

The West Region: (4) Louisville 69, (13) Davidson 62

Davidson came ready, but the Cardinals were able to avoid the upset. The Cardinals were led by Peyton Silva, who had 17 points and six assists. Kyle Kuric and Chane Behanan had nice games for Louisville. Wildcats star player Jake Cohen had 24 points.
