SEC Football Weekly Recruiting Roundup: Texas A&M Gets a Dual-Threat QB

Every Wednesday here at The SEC Blog, we will update you on the latest commits, decommits and rumors in the recruiting world.

Commits

SEC newcomer Texas A&M nabbed its 14th commitment of the 2013 class with dual-threat quarterback Kenny Hill from Southlake (Texas) Carroll High School. Hill is rated as a 3-star prospect and one of the Top 100 players in the state of Texas, according to 247Sports.com. At 6'1" and 200 pounds, Hill has the size to play a variety of positions at the collegiate level for Kevin Sumlin's Aggies.

It was a big week for Steve Spurrier and company on the recruiting front with two commitments in the last seven days. Mohamed Camara, a 6'2", 205-pound outside linebacker from Cumming, Ga. in suburban Atlanta gave his verbal commitment to the Gamecocks. Camara is rated as a 3-star prospect, according to 247Sports.com. He's a bit undersized to play linebacker at the SEC level, but he is athletic enough to play safety.

Joining Camara in Columbia will be Devante Covington. Covington is a 6'4", 220-pound defensive end from Rockingham, N.C. He chose the Gamecocks over offers from Clemson, N.C. State, Tennessee and East Carolina. He's also a bit undersized to play defensive end in the SEC, so he will need to bulk up. If he does, he's got the talent to be a solid pass-rusher for the Gamecocks.

New Arkansas head coach John L. Smith got some good news of his own over the weekend when 6'1", 200-pound running back Kaleb Blanchard committed to the Hogs. Blanchard is rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports.com. He's got the size to withstand punishment between the tackles, but also has the speed to run away from opposing defenses.

Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze got a pledge from 5'10", 205-pound safety Antonio Allen from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Ind. Allen has a knack for the football and isn't afraid to stick his nose in and knock the football loose.

News and Rumors

Alabama head coach Nick Saban was criticized for his handling of 2012 recruit Justin Taylor. Taylor had been committed to the Crimson Tide for a year, but was told that he would have to grayshirt shortly before national signing day. He addressed that criticism with Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
