Lakers to Recall Devin Ebanks; Jam Replace Him With Derrick Byars

The Los Angeles Lakers plan to recall Devin Ebanks from the NBA D-League's Bakersfield Jam as an insurance policy in case Matt Barnes' knee injury causes him to miss any action, but the Jam have a fine insurance policy with the recent acquisition of Derrick Byars.

Ebanks, a 6-foot-9 rookie out of West Virginia, played five games in the D-League with averages of 14.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals while hitting 50 percent of his attempts from the field. Ebanks didn't start during his time with the Jam, but he provided a great spark off of the bench and helped the team to a 4-1 record while he was in the lineup.

In Ebanks' best game in Bakersfield, a 133-130 overtime win against the top-ranked Iowa Energy, the long wingman scored 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting and added six rebounds -- though he did turn the ball over five times in his 31 minutes of playing time.
