2011 FINA World Championships Features Michael Phelps Return to the Pool

Michael Phelps has not taken part in any major competitions since his run at the 2008 Beijing Olympics when he took home eight gold medals.

Phelps is looking to bring in some more gold medals at this year's World Championships.  Phelps is expected to take part in a number of events including  the 200m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, 200m Butterfly, and 200m Individual Medley.

It is possible Phelps could take part in one or two more individual events, but he is also expected to take part in the team relays as well.

The big news here is that Phelps and fellow American Ryan Lochte are expected to both compete in the 200m freestyle as well as the 200m Individual Medley.  Lochte went six-for-six in his last major event, winning gold in every event he took place in at the Pan Pacific Championships.

Could a rivalry be brewing between two Americans? Both swimmers better be ready to go as they will certainly give each other their best shot.
