Atletico would rather close up shop than sell Sergio Aguero to Real Madrid.

Few teams spend more money than Manchester City, and the English side has emerged as the perfect fit for a transfer.
This way, the club can get a king's ransom for their top player and avoid the shame and outrage that would come with a sale to Real Madrid.
Los Blancos haven't given up just yet, but as Aguero prepares to settle his future, Man City is the frontrunner.

Aguero's agent Hernan Reguera admits the striker's future will be resolved soon, now that Argentina are no longer in the Copa America.
"He wanted the Copa America to end to sit down and talk. During this week everything will be settled," Reguera told Ole.
"Aguero has made a lot of important things for Atletico. He renewed his contract when he was one year away from becoming a free agent, he has played over 200 matches, he spent two years without vacations.
"He is thankful to the fans and to the club's board. We have been talking about this for two months.
One way or another, Aguero is done at Atletico.
The player has made it clear that he is looking to move on, and his long-term future is not at his current club.
Aguero has the ability to become one of the best players in the world, and going to a club that will nurture that prodigal talent is the only way to do that.
Real Madrid would have been a perfect destination for him, but as you can understand, Atletico cannot sell him to Los Blancos.
There is a reason the Red Sox and the Yankees don't make trades. These teams hate each other, and making good faith transactions would be a slap in the face of their respective fanbases.
Atletico was saved by Man City, and those deep pockets will ensure that the fee for Aguero will put the club on solid financial footing into the future.
