South Carolina Football: Jody Fuller Commits to the Gamecocks

The South Carolina football team picked up a big verbal commitment in wide receiver Jody Fuller as he announced on ESPNU's broadcast of The Opening at the Nike World Headquarters that he wants to be a Gamecock.

The 6-foot, 205-pounder out of Monroe, N.C., picked USC over offers from Arkansas, Clemson, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and several others.

Fuller, the nation’s No. 16 receiver prospect, is rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals and according to 247Sports; he is a four-star prospect with an overall grade of 94.

Fuller has 4.4 speed with good hands and can get the separation needed at the collegiate level.  Last season at Sun Valley High, Fuller caught 77 passes for 845 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The Gamecocks led with this young man from the start and the talented pass-catcher put an end to his recruiting process Friday Night with a verbal pledge.  He is the second receiver to commit to the Gamecocks as he joins Kwinton Smith in choosing to wear the ‘garnet and black.’

The Gamecocks recruiting class of 2012 will likely have one to two more receivers join Kwinton Smith and Jody Fuller due to the need for depth.

A strong candidate to fill one of those slots is five-star prospect Shaq Roland out of Lexington, S.C., he could commit by the end of summer.

Fuller is the 12th overall verbal commitment in the 2012 class for South Carolina and Coach Steve Spurrier.
