- "Over the weekend I went to the premiere of the Ron Artest Ultimate Comedy Tour at the Hollywood Improv." You've already sold me. Check out Hayes Davenport's recap of Ron Artest performing stand-up comedy. It's... interesting...
- Beckley Mason over at HoopSpeak has some very interesting CBA and lockout thoughts. Including this one: "The owners’ proposal is a complete non-starter because it asks players to forfeit entirely their connection to the success, or failure of the league. This is a fundamental concept, first introduced almost 30 years ago, that makes teammates of natural enemies. When the players have a hard cap of 57% BRI, as they do now, they are positively incentivized to do everything in their power to grow the league. So are the owners."
- Scott Schroeder from SBNation and Ridiculous Upside discussed some ways the NBA can better utilize the D-League by making it a bigger part of the CBA. Something to add to what he says here. If we're going to have an age limit in the NBA, I'm all in favor of making it a two-year waiting period from high school to the NBA. The one-and-done system with college basketball is pretty ridiculous and I think a good way to curb that atrocity is to make players wait two years to enter the NBA. But why not let them forgo the college experience and spend those two years in the D-League if they want? It would give the NBA the chance to make the D-League more of the minor league system it should eventually become.

- From Silver Screen And Roll, apparently the Lakers' defensive system is fine, according to Mike Brown's coaching staff.
- Dan Feldman at PistonPowered wonders if Tayshaun Prince is too old for a sign-and-trade. History certainly seems to say so: "That’s why, of the 35 examples of sign-and-trades I found in the previous seven summers,* Prince would be the third-oldest player to get signed-and-traded. (Darrell Armstrong and Ervin Johnson, who were both 38 when signed-and-traded, are outliers). The median age for a player when he’s signed-and-traded is 27."
- Raptors Republic has been grading Bryan Colangelo's trades in Toronto. I'll be honest. I've seen higher grades before.
- Are Yao Ming, Manu Ginobili, Pau Gasol and Tony Parker worthy of being inducted into the Hall of Fame? Jay Aych at Painted Area breaks it down, including this on Yao: "Also, Yao could be considered as an goodwill ambassador for the game of basketball similar to Vlade Divac. Yao has been instrumental in helping the NBA spread its influence to millions of new fans in Asia. From all accounts, Yao is known as a great teammate and terrific human being. I'm sure if David Stern has a HOF vote, he would give one to Yao."
- Speaking of Yao, Jonathan Abrams at Grantland has an incredible look back at the legacy of Yao.
