Sir Alex Ferguson hasn't held his post for 25 years at Old Trafford by mere luck, and in the wake of the latest injuries it is easy to see how he's been so successful all these years.
Not many clubs would be able to handle injuries the way United is prepared for this upcoming stretch without starters Rafael, Rio Ferdinand and skipper Nemanja Vidic, but this is a testament to all that Sir Alex Ferguson has done.
Vidic is only out for the next two weeks if all goes according to plan, but Ferdinand is out for at least six weeks with a hamstring injury and Rafael is out for at least 10 weeks with a shoulder injury.
This means the Red Devils, in front of an already shaky David de Gea, will sport a starting back line with no player older than 23-years.
Fabio and Chris Smalling both started the opener and will remain on the ends, but the central defense now belongs to Jonny Evans and Phil Jones.
Evans was rumored to be on the way out with the addition of the 19-year old Jones, but Ferguson knew better and he's now the oldest player in the United back line.
The highly-rated Jones came over from Blackburn this summer in a heavily-charged war with rival clubs, but as United often does, they won out.
Jones only has one full year of Premiership experience on his side, has yet to be capped by the national team and enters the show with the top club in all of England in a lurch. But United couldn't ask for a better opportunity for the future of their club to gel together.
It is the beginning of the season, giving them plenty of time to adjust, and this team club was one day going to feature many of the players being forced into the line up now.
This situation wasn't created by design, but the Reds Devils are more than capable of handling it and succeeding with it.
