Fantasy Football Rankings 2011: 3 Defenses You Won't Regret Drafting

Defense are often picked last in fantasy drafts, and in some leagues aren't even part of the roster. For those of you who have to draft a defense at some point, let's take a look at three teams whose defense will help you gain crucial points each week.

1. Pittsburgh Steelers

The defending AFC champions will once again be a dominant defensive force, and a fantasy defense you will not regret drafting, even before your fellow owners decide to take one.

James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley both had double digit sack totals last season, and as a team the Steelers led the league in sacks with 48.

The Steelers secondary will also be better this season, and they will create more interceptions with Troy Polamalu healthy again.

2. Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers defense was a major part of their Super Bowl run last season, and with only a couple players gone from last year's team, they will once again be a top unit.

They only allowed 15 points per game, and amassed 24 interceptions last season. With a very talented secondary, the Packers will certainly create scoring opportunities from interceptions returned for touchdowns. Linebacker Clay Matthews recorded 14 sacks last season, and will hit double digit sacks again for sure.

3. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles made a lot of offseason moves this summer, and several of them affected their defense. Last season their defense was ranked 21st in total defense, and allowed 23.6 points per game.

The additions of cornerbacks Nhamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will help the secondary, and certainly net the team more interceptions. The addition of defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins from Green Bay will help add to the sack total of 39 from a year ago. With so many playmakers, the Eagles defense could also score several touchdowns.
