BCS Rankings: Michigan Doesn't Deserve a BCS Spot after Terrible Iowa Upset

The No. 15 Michigan Wolverines were upset by the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday 24-16, and after this heartbreaking upset loss the Wolverines don't even deserve a place in the new BCS rankings that come out Sunday evening.

After driving the ball to the three-yard line with 16 seconds remaining in the game, Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson missed on four passes and the Wolverines came up short.

The Wolverines have been overrated the entire season, and their explosive offense that carried them earlier in the year has since disappeared.

The reason for that is Michigan's early season schedule was a complete joke.

Cupcake teams like Western and Eastern Michigan, San Diego State and their Big 10 conference opener versus Minnesota did not adequately prepare the Wolverines for a tough late-season schedule.

Going into Week 10 the Wolverines were 15th in the BCS standings, but after two losses, one of which was to an unranked Iowa team, it's time for Michigan to exit the BCS poll altogether.

The three best teams they have played were all tough games, and two of them were losses.

The only win against a decent team they have this season came against Notre Dame back in September, which Michigan miraculously won in the fourth quarter. Back then it was even a stretch to call the Fighting Irish a decent team.

The Wolverines have three remaining games left this season and all of them are potential losses.

Next week they travel to Illinois, which will be a tough battle. Illinois was ranked for several weeks this season and have played well this year.

After that game, Michigan hosts No. 10 Nebraska, and the Cornhuskers will destroy them. Nebraska will dominate Michigan on both sides of the ball and embarrass the Wolverines at the Big House.

The following week is their season finale against arch rival Ohio State, and even though the Buckeyes aren't having a good season, rivalries always bring the best out of teams.

Michigan could easily go on a bad long losing streak in the next few weeks and continue to show how overrated they have been all season.

Whenever they play a quality opponent, the Wolverines can't seem to make enough plays to win, especially late in games.

Michigan does not deserve a place in the new BCS standings on Sunday, they have only won against bad teams and have been overrated all season.
