In a game where defense has ruled thus far, the Eagles are edging the Giants 10-0. Though they have a decent lead heading into the locker room, Philadelphia's offense has a few things they can improve on for the second half.
1. Put Vince Young in check
Vince Young has not looked good so far. When he’s not missing his receivers point blank, he’s airing out a dangerous pass downfield. If the Eagles want to limit their turnovers through the air, Young needs to keep it conservative and throw more screen passes. Short completions will be especially crucial if DeSean Jackson’s knee keeps him out of the game.
2. Play smart football
Philadelphia has killed itself with stupid plays all season long. DeSean Jackson nullifying his huge catch downfield by taunting is up there with the Eagles worst penalties of the season. Another miscue like that and Philly can say goodbye to its chances at winning this football game.
3. Keep going to McCoy
He hasn’t had great success in the game thus far, but with Vince Young making his first start of the season, it’s essential that Philly keeps feeding the ball to its star running back to keep the offense in a rhythm. It’s only a matter of time before McCoy finds the endzone.
