Boxing can't get anything right. Time and time again this sport just kills itself with one disgrace after another.
The sport has been decimated by years of a poor heavyweight division, bad matchups, allegations of fight fixing, horrible marketing and just all around screwy developments in the ring.
Pacquiao vs. Marquez III had a chance to quiet all of those complaints and problems for at least a night. Instead, it has only amplified them
Manny Pacquiao defeated Juan Manuel Marquez on the strength of a wildly contested decision.
Marquez spent much of this fight dominating Pacquiao. Pac-Man clearly went on the offensive and was the stronger fighter in the last few rounds, but this was only enough for a reasonable man to score this fight a draw.
Apparently, these judges were not reasonable men.

This head-scratching decision only fuels the fire that these judges are ordered to do everything they can to make sure that boxing's cash cows survive, and maintain their headlining status.
Fans at the fight were incensed. They even booed the popular champion Pacquiao as Marquez left the ring to wild applause. Observers at home were just as outraged.
Juan Marquez won this fight.

He should have gotten this decision. A draw would have been slightly understandable. But a decision for Pacquiao was just out of the question. The only two people watching this fight who seemed to feel that Pacquiao won just happened to be judges.
As a result, boxing still has its money-making champion, but they also have another black eye, and these continual black eyes are killing the sport.
