Super Bowl Predictions: Would the AFC Champion Be Favored Over the NFC Champion?

The AFC is generally considered to be stronger than the NFC. This isn't to say that the AFC champion would automatically win?just ask the Indianapolis Colts after last year's defeat at the hands of the New Orleans Saints?but are the top AFC teams generally better than the top NFC teams?

New England, in particular, looks like the top dog in the league. If some team were to upset the Patriots and represent the AFC, one would think that they are automatically favored to walk away Super Bowl champs.

Regardless of whoever comes out on top of their respective conferences, does the AFC champion hold an advantage over the NFC champion?
