Chad,
What has happened to us? I feel like I don’t know you anymore. I know we have had our differences over the years, but who doesn’t?
When I first moved to Cincinnati, you and T.J. caught my eye. Despite having almost nothing in common, I was drawn to you. People say opposites attract, right?
I told T.J. we could be friends. At first, he didn’t mind that you were my No. 1 guy. It worked pretty well for a couple of years. However, T.J.’s feelings grew stronger, and he wanted more. He wanted something that I couldn’t give him.
I dedicated myself to you, Chad.
We have had our ups and downs. When I hurt my elbow in 2008, the real pain came from watching you play with someone else.
Last year, a number of younger guys joined us. I will admit to temptation but swear to my loyalty. Chad, I couldn’t jeopardize our connection with someone fresh out of college.
This year, something changed.
You brought a friend into the picture. Terrell is established, independent and mature. I was immediately drawn to him. For the first time in my life, I have found myself torn between two guys.
It almost seems as if fate is trying to drive a wedge between us. People are trying to double-team you out of the picture while Terrell and I are becoming closer.
When you lost it on Monday night, I didn’t know what to do. Andrew got you out of the huddle simply to protect me. Don’t read too much into it. I understand your frustration.
When I throw to Terrell, I am often pretending it is you. That isn’t fair to any of us. We have to figure this out.
Regards,
Carson
