Miami Heat Avoid Another Meltdown, Escape With Win Over Bobcats

LeBron JamesMIAMI -- The Miami Heat thought they had exorcised their demons from the Utah Jazz meltdown last week with a resounding win over the Phoenix Suns in their last game. At least that's how Heat coach Erik Spoelstra had sold it afterward in his remarks to the media.

But once again, the Heat allowed yet another team, this time the Charlotte Bobcats, to get back into a game after they fell behind by 21 points in the second quarter. Stephen Jackson led his team with 30 points as Charlotte rebounded at halftime to put together a solid second half. But there would be no miraculous comeback this time as the Heat, led by LeBron James, turned up their defense and hit enough shots down the stretch to escape with a 95-87 win to conclude their six-game homestand.

"The most important thing about tonight was we found a way to win a grind-out game that was ugly at times," Spoelstra insisted after the game. "It was not smooth. Certainly there are some things we could do better offensively particularly there in the fourth quarter. But these games are good for us right now."
