NFL Week 14 Picks: Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions Prediction

Green Bay is one of a number of NFC teams right in the thick of the playoff race, thanks to the All Pro-type performance they've received from quarterback Aaron Rodgers in particular. The Packers will need Rodgers to step up as they head to Detroit's Ford Field to take on the Lions in a key NFC North game that holds particular importance for the Pack's playoff positioning.

The Lions will look to play NFC spoiler for their divisional rival, and they'll turn to third string quarterback Drew Stanton to try and lead them to an upset victory. Stanton was 16 for 24 passing with one throwing and one running touchdown (and one awful rendition of the Dougie) in the Lions' Week 13 loss. It looks like it could be tough going for Detroit's offense, as the Packers' defense has allowed the lowest number of passing yards against since Week 9.

The Lions struggle in stopping the pass, and I think that's the big difference in this game: Aaron Rodgers is the type of quarterback that can exploit a weakness such as the Lions' secondary. I expect another efficient, productive game from Rodgers, and I think the Lions may keep it close (as they have in nearly all their games this year), but it won't be enough to shock the Packers in what's a must win game for them.

My Prediction: Green Bay Packers 31, Detroit Lions 21
