NBA Draft 2011: Washington Wizards Move Points Toward Jan Vesely Selection

Washington Wizards 2011 NBA Draft Party Invite Points Toward Jan Vesely

The Washington Wizards took a 20x10 foot electric sign with flashing neon lights that read "Jan Vesely Is A Wizard" and put it right in downtown D.C.

OK, well, they didn't actually do that, but they invited the Czech Republic Embassy to their draft party which is basically the same thing.  Jan Vesely is from the Czech Republic.  He's already a Washington Wizard.

The only way he doesn't end up in the nation's capitol at this point if Toronto take him at No. 5.  If Utah takes Enes Kanter and Brandon Knight drops to the Raptors like expected, there goes any chance of that happening.

Vesely though is a phenomenal fit for Washington.  Rashard Lewis obviously isn't part of the Wizards future plan.  Their number one goal this draft was finding his replacement all along.

There aren't too many 6'11" high fliers that play on the wing and have three-point range.  I've actually never even heard of such a player.  It sounds like someone you would create on NBA 2K.

Jan Vesely is just that though.  He's definitely not a soft international big man.  He loves to dunk; boy are him and John Wall going to get along.

If he can put on some weight and adapt to the NBA game he's going to be a special player.  All of a sudden, the Wizards have a very nice looking young core in Wall, Nick Young, Jordan Crawford, Vesely, Andray Blatche, Trevor Booker, and JaVale McGee.  Oh yeah, and they still have the No. 18 pick in the draft.
