Wimbledon 2011 Sees Novak Djokovic Get Back on Track
All it took was one loss to world No. 3 Roger Federer for Novak Djokovic's 43-match winning streak to be largely forgotten.
Or so it seems, given most experts have pegged either Federer or world No. 1 Rafael Nadal to win this year's Wimbledon.
But Novak Djokovic bounced back from his semifinals loss at Roland Garros on Tuesday, breezing past Jeremy Chardy 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 in the first round of Wimbledon play.

Part of the reason experts have largely ignored Djokovic as a favorite in this year's Wimbledon is because of history. Djokovic has never advanced past the semifinals at Wimbledon in the last six years. Federer is a six-time champion. Nadal is a two-time champ and is coming off a French Open victory against Federer.
But how can you ignore a 43-match winning streak?
Djokovic is obviously a completely different player this year, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he won at Wimbledon.
I think it comes down to Djokovic and Federer. Federer is a known grass-court guru, and this isn't clay, Nadal's preferred surface.
It's going to be an interesting tournament.
But by no means should we overlook Djokovic.
