The 2011 MLB Prospects Features Strong High Schoolers
The 2011 MLB Draft takes place today, and the first pick is likely to be Gerrit Cole from UCLA. The pitcher is the top prospect this year and it is expected that the Pittsburgh Pirates will be picking him.
After that it's really up in the air. One thing for sure this year is that the list of prospects available to draft features a strong group of high school kids.
The high school kids have the option to join the team that drafts them, or they can elect to skip out and go to college. I highly doubt that those prospects picked in the first round will go to college instead of signing for millions of dollars.
So which high school prospect will be drafted first?

The top two high school athletes in the draft this year are pitcher Dylan Bundy and out fielder Bubba Starling. Bundy is from Owasso High School in Oklahoma, and Starling is from Gardner Edgerton High School is Kansas.
Bundy is 6'1", 200 pounds, and Starling is 6'4", 180 pounds. Of these two I believe that Bundy will be the first high school player drafted in the 2011 MLB Draft.
Bundy has what is takes to be an elite MLB pitcher. He has as great command and aggressiveness. He has fewer question marks than any pitcher in this draft other than Gerrit Cole. Bundy is likely to be a top five pick.
Starling is a phenomenal player and one of the best athletes in the draft. However, Bundy can fire it in around 96 MPH, which is great for a high schooler. Both players have room to grow and develop, but I believe Bundy has the better upside.
