Definitive Guide to Liverpool's Potential Transfers This Summer

Having looked at the potential business of Manchester United and this summer, it is the Anfield club’s turn to be under the microscope.

Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli have a remit to plan for the future, here are some tips for them.

OUT: Joe Cole (attacking midfielder)

An expensive mistake despite the fact the former Chelsea man cost nothing. Would be best for all concerned if he was offloaded this summer.

£90k a week to sit on the bench is just too much.

OUT: David Ngog (striker)

Being hard working is sometimes not enough. French youngster is never going to make it at Anfield and a possible move to Sunderland would suit all parties.

OUT: Christian Poulsen (midfielder)

Arrived at Liverpool about five years too late. Lacks pace, can only complete passes that are less than five yards and in a backwards direction. Would be surprising if he left for another big, or even medium, level side.

Maybe a move back to Denmark is on the cards?

OUT: Milan Jovanovic (winger/striker)

Whilst he may well have been played in the wrong position, on the wing (really?), the Serbian international really has not impressed.

Proof that being good in the Belgium leagues is even more deceiving than those who do well in the Dutch Eredivisie.

OUT: Alberto Aquilani (midfielder)

Truly a quality player, but if he wants to leave then Kenny Dalglish should not stand in his way. Instead, he should make sure he gets the maximum value for the Italian international, which in today’s market is at least £20m.

IN: Doni (keeper) – Roma

Quality keeper back up for Pepe Reina to help keep the Spaniard on his toes, a far better option than Brad Jones.

IN: Scott Dann (defender) – Birmingham City

Having failed to land Blackburn Rovers youngster Phil Jones, Kenny Dalglish would do well to switch attention to the hard working local born centre back Scott Dann. Birmingham City were relegated mainly due to the fact that the former Coventry City man was out for huge portions of the season.

Would be a good long term replacement for Jamie Carragher.

IN: Juan Mata (winger) – Valencia

Speedy wide man who can also work as a striker if needs be. Valencia seem resigned to losing the Spanish international and Liverpool appear to be the most likely to secure a deal for the pint sized attacker.

IN: Adel Taarabt (playmaker) – QPR

Liverpool’s new owners are keen to fork out for young talent that can serve the club well for years to come.

Kenny Dalglish would like more creativity from his midfield and perhaps a player that links midfield and attack, the QPR man fits the bill perfectly.

IN: Leighton Baines (left back) – Everton

One of the best left back’s in the Premier League and though a move across Stanley Park may be a contentious one, it would be one well worth making.

The England international is as good going forward as he is at the back and is also a damn good set piece specialist.
