Dirk Nowitzki: Mavericks' Star Nowitzki Overcome with Emotion After Victory

Dirk Nowitzki Extremely Emotional After Dallas Mavericks Win 2011 NBA Finals Over Miami Heat

Dirk Nowitzki has done it.

He may of waited 13 years, but finally he can call himself an NBA Championship. Dirk did it on his terms and now will always be remembered as one of the greatest big men ever.

Nowitzki may not have been spectacular in the Game Six clincher, but he came through when it mattered most?the fourth quarter.

As soon as the game was over it was a mob scene at midcourt with the entire Dallas Mavericks team basking in glory.

All of them but one.

Dirk jetted off the floor as the clock wound down to zero as he went into the lockerroom to enjoy the moment privately. Marc Stein of ESPN.com talks about the scene after the final buzzer had sounded in Miami for Dirk:

The Dallas Mavericks had to drag Nowitzki back to the podium of champions Sunday night, so he could hoist the two trophies of his dreams, all because he didn't want anyone to see him like this, whether they were in the building or watching on TV.

He admittedly "cried like a baby" back in 2008 upon clinching Germany's qualification for the Olympics for the first time in his career, but Nowitzki confessed that he was literally shaking with shock in the immediate aftermath of the Mavs' 105-95 dismantling of the Miami Heat to win the 2011 NBA Finals.

It was a moment that Dirk clearly didn't want to share with the entire world.

He is the ultimate class act and didn't want to be seen sobbing for millions and millions of people. He understands how big of a moment this was for not only him, but for the city of Dallas and for the entire country of Germany.

Dirk did it and he has the right to celebrate however he wants to.
