The Royals now have their franchise first baseman an third baseman up in Kansas City.
The team announced earlier tonight that they have called up another one of their top prospects from their No. 1 ranked farm system.
This time, it was third baseman Mike Moustakas who got the call on the other end.
Moustakas was hitting .287 with 10 homers, 15 doubles and 44 RBI in just 55 games for the Royals' Triple-A affiliate Omaha Storm Chasers.
With Moustakas's addition, KC had to send down struggling 3B/2B Mike Aviles, after he went hitless again today, lowering his batting average to a dismal .213 clip for the season.
The move was seen as a bit of a surprise, considering the fact that Moustakas was struggling with his fielding while at Omaha, as he has already made 10 errors on the season.
Many thought that the Royals wouldn't call him up until at least another month, but Royals GM Dayton Moore, and his staff likely realized that his offense needs a spark right now.
It appears that KC is trying to speed up their future since their present is looking more dim as we speak.
"Moose," as many call him, will get the start at third tomorrow night when Kansas City opens up a nine-game road-trip with a three-game weekend series against the LA Angels in Anaheim.
Many Royals fans, including myself, will be eager to watch the young prospect and see how well he adapts to live as big-leaguer.
Congratulations Mike, and welcome to the Kansas City Royals, where you will hopefully stay for a long time.
