After the signing of Jordan Henderson from Sunderland last week, Liverpool have turned their attention to their other targets.
Kenny Dalglish wants to have the entire squad in place before the pre-season starts and hence, Liverpool have started showing urgency to secure the signings of their targets as soon as possible.
Since, the European transfer window only opens in July, the attention currently is focused on the targets who currently play in England.
According to The Telegraph, Liverpool might move fast to raid the relegated clubs for the signings of Charlie Adam and Scot Dann soon.
Liverpool had a bid of £7.5 million rejected by Blackpool for their captain Charlie Adam in January. Adam had set his sights in the move, but Liverpool were thwarted by a £12 million price tag put by Ian Holloway and Blackpool.
However, with Blackpool relegated and only one year left on Adam's contract, Blackpool would like to get the maximum value for their prized possession.
A fee in the range of £8-9 million is expected to be the price that Liverpool would have to pay to sign Charlie Adam.
However, with the signing of Henderson along with the fact that Kenny Dalglish is moving for Charlie Adam might mean the end of the road for one of the established central midfielders, Raul Meireles being the most likely candidate.
Manchester United winning in the race to sign Phil Jones means that Liverpool would need to look at alternate targets.
Scott Dann seems to be on the top of that list. His partnership with Roger Johnson was one of the reasons for Birmigham's good defensive performance in their time in the Premier League.
He possesses great aerial abilities, something that has been missing in the defensive department for Liverpool.
The 6' 5", 24-year-old is a self professed Liverpool fan and a former season ticket holder and if Liverpool is able to secure his signing, we may finally see a scouse pair at the center of defense next season.
Though Arsenal are also believed to be in the race, a prospect of moving to the club he supports might be a temptation too tough to resist.
Due to the the fact that Birmingham are relegated, a fee of about £10 million is being touted for Dann.
News of the World reports that Liverpool are also moving for the £15 million rated winger Stewart Downing from Aston Villa.
Though, with the imminent departure of Ashley Young as well, Villa seem to be reluctant to let go of Downing, who was the player of the year at Aston Villa last season.
Liverpool might be wary of the situation as they had been involved with Villa for the signing of Gareth Barry with the same club, that eventually turned out to be a disaster.
However, with Downing reportedly setting his sights on a move to Anfield coupled with the new owners' readiness to splash cash if required, one should expect this transfer to go through soon enough.
Liverpool's biggest problems have been at left back ever since John Arne Riise left in 2008. Jose Enrique seems to be on the top of the list to solve that problem.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has admitted that the club are resigned to losing Jose Enrique, according to Metro.
Enrique has been linked with Liverpool for a long time now, with a £8 million bid expected to be enough to secure his services, as he is in the final year of his contract at Newcastle.
Enrique had been one of the most impressive players for Newcastle last season and is also being scouted by Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
In case Liverpool fail in their chase for Enrique, Gael Clichy is reported to be next on the list of targets. Clichy, who is also in the final year of his contract an Arsenal would come cheaper at £5 million.
With David N'gog expected to move to Sunderland as a part of the Henderson deal, Liverpool are expected to launch a bid for Connor Wickham, though no official contact has been made yet, according to The Daily Mail.
The £10 million rated Wickham is one of the most exciting prospects in England currently and is currently out on national duty in the U21 European Championships.
Kenny Dalglish would want to complete the signings within England by the end of June so that Liverpool could focus on dealings in the continent once the Transfer window for signings from outside England opens in July.
A possible couple of wingers or play-makers are expected to be the targets for Liverpool, with names such as Juan Mata and Santiago Carzola being linked with the Reds.
With Kenny Dalglish rumored to be given a transfer budget of £80 million, Liverpool would definitely go all out for any player they believe to be important for building a strong team for the present as well as for the future.
