Reffing Game 3: Dan Crawford

A big fuss has been made about the Mavericks' poor record in games refereed by Dan Crawford.

Indeed, some of the historic numbers are eye-popping.

But now that the NBA has made the officials known for the Finals' Game 3, and Crawford is on the list, it's not at all clear Mavericks fans should panic.

ESPN's Hyun Choi kept track, and on May 24 shared these numbers from the 2011 playoffs:

Crawford called 12 personal fouls against the Thunder on Monday, and seven personal fouls and a technical foul against the Mavericks. The Mavs had 16 free throw attempts compared to Thunder’s 7 on Crawford’s calls.

In 2011 playoff games officiated by Dan Crawford, the Mavs are 2-0 and have drawn nine more personal fouls (20-11) than their opponents on Crawford’s calls.
