More than 100 millions fans voted for their Pro Bowl selections this season, a record in balloting.
And with one-third of the formula complete, fans generally got it right.
Besides naming Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady their starters for the NFC and AFC, respectively, fans also were adept in other areas.
Despite the Philadelphia Eagles struggling, fans were right to name LeSean McCoy as the starting running back for the NFC. He's had a remarkable season amid all the drama, and he deserved that vote.
The New England Patriots' Wes Welker leads all receivers in receiving yards with 1,380, and he definitely deserved the vote. And the Detroit Lions' Calvin Johnson was miles ahead of NFC receivers with 1,335 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.
Both tight ends, Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham, were no-brainers for the AFC and NFC respectively.
Ray Lewis and Patrick Willis were no-brainers at the inside linebacker spot.
And the choices of defensive tackles Haloti Ngata and Justin Smith for the AFC and NFC respectively were well-earned as well.
It was also nice to see Patriots defensive end Andre Carter get respect. Carter, who has been a very needed pass rusher for the team this season and has shown glimpses of his glory years, has racked up 10 sacks this season.

The biggest problem I had was Houston Texans running back Arian Foster receiving the award over someone like the Jacksonville Jaguars' Maurice Jones-Drew.
It isn't that Foster isn't deserving, because he's been spectacular this season; it had more to do with what Jones-Drew was able to do on a poor offense. Defenses centered in on him all season based on a lackluster passing game, and he was still able to rush for 1,334 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
Overall, however, you hope that the players and coaches follow the blueprint left by the fans.
