Baylor QB Robert Griffin III Trying to Make Heisman Statement Against Texas

There is seemingly no quit in Baylor Bears quarterback Robert Griffin III, also known as RGIII.

After taking a shot against Texas Tech last week and leaving early, Griffin knew he had to make up for some pedestrian (by his standards) numbers in that game.

With Case Keenum likely not getting an invite to New York after losing to Southern Miss earlier today, it is probable that a Heisman-like performance from Griffin against Texas will sway some voters.

On the season, Robert Griffin III has completed 72.6 percent of his passes, has thrown for 3,678 yards and has posted 34 passing and seven rushing touchdowns.

Through the first quarter of the Texas game, Griffin hasn't disappointed.

He opened the game with a beautiful throw to his star receiver Kendall Wright for 59 yards and a touchdown.

Then RGIII amazed again by throwing a 48-yard pass to Wright, setting up their second score.

I suggest if you have a television, switch it between the LSU/Georgia game and the Baylor/Texas matchup. Griffin is on fire and knows that a Heisman trophy is becoming more and more possible with every magnificent throw he has against what is supposed to be the best defense in the Big 12.

If only Baylor's defense could elevate their game, it would give Griffin a chance to win more than just this game.

If he can have another miraculous game-winning throw like the one against Oklahoma, he may just rise above Trent Richardson and Andrew Luck in the Heisman race.

It is a long shot, but RGIII is no stranger to those.
