The 11-2 (8-1 Pac-12) No. 9 Oregon Ducks played for the Pac-12 title last night coming away with a victory and looking very dominant in the first annual Pac-12 championship game. The Ducks were looking to finish the season on a high note, and it looks like they will with a berth to the Rose Bowl likely.
The Ducks have faced a wealth of adversity this season as their numbers represent, but the Ducks are looking to walk out of towards the Rose Bowl with a new found mentality and preparation for the 2011 season. The Oregon Ducks have such a unique style of football.
The 12-2 (7-2 Big Ten) No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers played lights out today with a come from behind victory over the Oregon Ducks. The Badgers took an early lead, but they fell behind and struggled against the Ducks in the second half.
With the Big Ten and the Pac-12 finding their champions tonight, we can project the Rose Bowl quite easily as it will host the winner of the two conferences respectively. Look for some big time fireworks against each other during the Rose Bowl as Oregon will be looking to push the game out of reach.
The early line is likely to have the Ducks leading the Badgers as the Ducks have one of the most explosive offenses in college football. Wisconsin has a phenomenal offense as well, but it rarely makes headlines.
Both these teams entered the 2011 season with national title expectations but both teams fell, eliminating them from the national title discussion. They still have the Rose Bowl to play for however, and that is a huge incentive to perform at the highest of levels.
This will be a very exciting matchup for the country to follow as both have very explosive offenses. Wisconsin also has the fourth best scoring defense in the country. The Ducks aren’t quite a shutdown defense so that may be the biggest advantage that either team will carry into the game.
Wisconsin will be making their second trip to the Rose Bowl in as many seasons as they made it to the Rose Bowl last year and were handed a loss by the TCU Horned Frogs. The Badgers will be looking to have a much better performance this season but the Ducks will be a very strong challenge.
With the parody that has filled college football this season, this game will represent a level of normalcy as both teams have become consistent powerhouses in the game of college football. This year’s Rose Bowl will be full of tradition and bring a great game to the BCS lineup this January.
