The favorites in the NFL are meant to dominate, but sometimes they struggle to succeed, which will frustrate many. In Week 16, some will cover with ease, while others will struggle mightily.
Whether they're out for revenge, playing a much weaker opponent or the line is just too good, certain favorites will live up to their expectations.
With that said, here are three favorites that will cover the spread in Week 16.
New England (-9.5)
The Patriots will take on the Miami Dolphins this weekend, and even though Tom Brady may not throw for over 500 yards again, he's still going to have a monster performance to lead his team to an easy victory.
Some might think that since the Patriots have already won the AFC East, they'll slack off and give the Dolphins a great shot at winning. However, this won't be the case because it's a chance to sweep a division opponent on the season, and Bill Belichick never lays down.
Expect another dominant performance from Brady and his multiple weapons. Sure, Matt Moore should produce a good game against the worst defense in the NFL, but Brady's also playing the 25th ranked pass defense, and seeing as how he's an elite QB, he'll shred Miami to pieces once again.
Prediction: Patriots 42, Dolphins 28
Baltimore (-13)
The Ravens will battle one of their AFC North rivals, the Cleveland Browns. After being demolished a week ago, Baltimore will bounce back and cruise past the Browns.
This may seem like a lot of points, but the Ravens are out to make a statement after losing last week. These last two games are very crucial for Baltimore since it could be the difference between a No. 2 seed or No. 5 seed.
In the end, Joe Flacco, Ray Rice and the rest of the Ravens will shine on offense. The defense won't have any trouble shutting down the Browns, just like it did in Week 13.
Cleveland doesn't have the talent to compete with Baltimore for all four quarters.
Prediction: Ravens 30, Browns 13
San Francisco (-2)
The surging 49ers will hit the road to take on a Seattle Seahawks team fighting for a wild-card berth. Even though San Francisco is coming of a very short week (game on Monday then road game on Saturday) the 49ers will not falter.
Marshawn Lynch has been holding his own recently, entering beast mode to help carry the Seahawks all season long.
Unfortunately, the 49ers run defense is the best in the NFL, having yet to give up a single rushing touchdown. The line is close because it's a division matchup and the 49ers are playing on the road.
However, San Francisco will use their stout defensive play to excel past the Seahawks and cover the spread with ease.
Prediction: 49ers 24, Seahawks 17
