Wow, Clay "Heavy Metal" Harvison has added some flamboyant designs and color to his hair. Throw in that strange headdress he wore at the weigh-ins and who knew this dude has so much personality? Seemed pretty straight-laced if mouthy on the show.
He's squaring off against Baby Couture, Justin Edwards.
No touchy-feely stuff here?the fighters engage almost immediately in the clinch before Edwards grabs a smooth takedown. He can't make too much progress on the ground, however, as Harvison manages to retake his feet.
But Edwards scores two more takedowns using that follow the same pattern?the last enables him to threaten with a guillotine, but it ultimately amounts to nothing.
The maneuvers do create a nice little goose egg on Heavy Metal's forehead that's already getting bigger. Call it a mini-Mark Hominick at this early stage.
Edwards shoots for another takedown, but misses it and eats some punches for his efforts before landing a nice hook of his own. Justin aims for a hip toss, misses and is forced to attack Clay's heel. Harvison calmly defends.
Justin looks a bit gassed as Heavy Metal begins to assert himself, attacking his opponent via submission attempts until the final horn. Pretty close round after all was said and done, but still a 10-9 for Edwards.
