ACC Power Poll Week 14: Virginia Tech Hokies are ACC Champions... Again!

There was only one game this week in the ACC, and it was the biggest one of them all: the ACC Championship. Virginia Tech went into Charlotte and handled Florida State in a game that was never really in doubt in the second half.

Congratulations to the Hokies. They won their fourth ACC Championship since 2004.

Once bowl destinations are decided, we'll post that tomorrow.

This will be an abbreviated rankings. The rest of the ACC, outside of Florida State and Virginia Tech, finished their seasons the previous week, hence no week summaries for the other teams.

This will be also be our last set of ACC football power rankings until the end of bowl season.

1. Virginia Tech Hokies  11-2 (8-0) Last Week - 1

What a recovery for the Hokies. After an 0-2 start the Hokies ran off 11 straight wins. They only had one game, a 28-21 win over Georgia Tech, that wasn't a double-digit victory. Tyrod Taylor left little doubt that he was the ACC's best player in 2010 in the 44-33 win over Florida State.

What can you say? Like him or not, Frank Beamer is the ACC's best coach and most consistent winner until proven otherwise. It's the Orange Bowl again for Virginia Tech!

2. Florida State Seminoles 9-4 (6-2) Last Week - 2

Florida State had the odds stacked against them going into the ACC championship. Christian Ponder was injured and that forced E.J. Manuel to play. Manual played hard and at times well, but you can't convince me he would have been a better option than a healthy Ponder. That's just the way it goes sometimes. The defense struggled, giving up 442 yards and 33 points. Give credit to a great game by Virginia Tech's Taylor.

The 'Noles shouldn't worry too much. If they win at the Chick-Fil-A bowl, it's a 10 win season for Jimbo Fisher. A bright future is ahead for the 'Noles.

3. Maryland Terrapins 8-4 (5-3) Last Week - 3

4. NC State Wolfpack  8-4 (5-3) Last Week - 4

5. North Carolina Tar Heels  7-5 (4-4) Last Week - 5

6. Miami Hurricanes  7-5 (5-3) Last Week - 6

7. Boston College Eagles 7-5 (4-4) Last Week - 7

8. Clemson Tigers 6-6 (4-4) Last Week - 8

9. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets  6-6 (4-4) Last Week - 9

10. Virginia Cavaliers 4-8 (1-7) Last Week - 10

11. Duke Blue Devils  3-9 (1-7) Last Week - 11

12. Wake Forest Demon Deacons 3-9 (1-7) Last Week - 12
